poem compiled with the words of Terrence McKenna

Are you interested in
virtual reality
And who will you remember
The astronauts
Or the poets
And when if you close your eyes
And make your way
Into the Vatican library
Can you stand it
If there is no money in this
Even though money
Could be made from this
And can you save the world
From capitalism
And with that kind of power
And that monkey brain
Can you take the necessary step
That 25 thousand year dash
Into the starship
Lost, a bacteria in space,
As the ravings of an unhinged mind
A confirmed object colliding
With the status quo
And can you take the necessary step
A single cataclysmic impact
A war in heaven
65 million years ago
Or do we take a step
10 thousand years back
Or step through 5 hundred million
Years of planet smashers

And
This place
Is cosmically unstable
And
We are in a desperate strategy of escape
Of excruciating weirdness
A scar twice the size
Of the lunar crater Copernicus

We move in our mistakes
Twice the speed of a rifle bullet
And the mistakes of our ancestors
Ring like a gong
And yet at the time of the impact
We will arise
Obsessed with the end of time
Determined to give a day to it.
